IMD 215 Film and Special Effects Design

This course serves as an introduction to the process of video production and post-production techniques. Exploration in the theory and practice of various editing styles is taught in order to gain a thorough understanding of how video narratives are constructed. Through demonstrations and hands-on experience, students learn editing techniques with an in-depth examination of professional nonlinear editing software. To further enhance projects, students create motion graphics and/or special effects using Adobe After Effects. Strong emphasis is placed on post-production techniques that improve the sound, image quality, pacing and overall aesthetic value of the video project. 12 (6 laboratory hours) Note: In addition to tuition, this course requires additional variable tuition rate.
