Program Information:
- This program prepares students for an occupation in the professional field of neurodiagnostic technology (EEG Technology).
- Neurodiagnostic Technology is the scientific field devoted to the recording and study of the electrical activity of the brain and nervous system pathways.
- Neurodiagnostic Technologists conduct tests or studies such as electroencephalography (EEG), polysomnography (PSG), nerve conduction studies (NCS) and intraoperative monitoring (IOM).
- The first semester of this program begins in August and this certificate of achievement program must be taken in its entirety to meet certificate requirements.
- Students are involved in approximately 640 contact hours of clinical experience during the one-year program. National Certification as a Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist requires graduates to pass the examination administered by ABRET – Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation.
- Career cluster includes: Neurodiagnostic (EEG) Technologist in a hospital, clinic, research facility, physicians’ office and travel assignments. Opportunities for advancement include add-on credentials, clinical or didactic instructors, remote monitoring, sales, supervisory and administrative positions.
- Neurodiagnostic students must earn a minimum grade of C in all required NDT courses to remain the program. Students who earn below a C in any of these courses will be dropped from the program.
- Students have the right to apply for readmission to the program based on space availability. Only one readmission is allowed.
- This program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation for Education in Neurodiagnostic Technology (CoA-NDT).
- Application and admission to the Neurodiagnostic Technology program is conducted on a limited enrollment basis and is a separate procedure from application and admission to LLCC.
Students must have a current physical, CPR certification, show proof of immunizations and pass a drug screen and fingerprint background check prior to the start of the program.
