Transfer Degrees

Illinois Articulation Initiative-compatible Degrees

Associate in Arts and Associate in Science

Lincoln Land Community College is a participant in the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI), a statewide agreement that allows transfer of the completed Illinois General Education Core Curriculum between participating institutions. Completion of the General Education Core Curriculum at any participating college or university in Illinois assures transferring students that lower-division general education requirements for an associate or bachelor’s degree have been satisfied. This agreement is in effect for students entering an associate or bachelor's degree-granting institution as a first-time freshman beginning in summer 1998 (and thereafter). See an student success advisor for additional information or visit iTransfer to learn more about the IAI. For additional information about transfer options, see Suggested Transfer Degree Programs.

Other Transferable Degrees

Associate in Engineering Science and Associate in Fine Arts

Designed specifically for students majoring in engineering, art or music, these degrees parallel the coursework that students in similar university programs typically complete during their first two years of study. While these degrees include some general education coursework, they are weighted more heavily toward coursework required for certain majors.

Although students earning these degrees do not meet the IAI General Education Core Curriculum, they should experience little difficulty transferring in the same major to a four-year institution. To satisfy general education requirements, students should select courses from those listed and may need to complete additional general education requirements at the transfer institution.

Transfer Degree Requirements

Associate in Engineering Science (65 semester hours minimum)

Group I: Communication – 6 semester hours

EGL 101 and EGL 102 (with a grade of C or higher in each course) are required.

Group II: Social science – 3 semester hours

Three semester hours must be earned from the list of General Education Core Curriculum. ECO 131 is required in Industrial Engineering and recommended for other engineering specialties. If 2 courses are selected in a field, a two-semester sequence in ECO 132 is recommended.

Group III: Humanities and fine arts – up to 3 semester hours

Up to 3 semester hours may be earned from the list of General Education Core Curriculum.

Group IV: Science and mathematics – 22 semester hours

CHE 101 and PHY 201 must be included. MAT 131, MAT 132 and MAT 233 must be included.

Group V: Electives – 34 to 35 semester hours
