MAT 093 Developmental Geometry
This is a course in the fundamental concepts of geometry for students whose background does not include the one year of high school geometry necessary for the pursuit of college-level courses in mathematics. Undefined terms, axioms and postulates, theorems, the properties of congruence and similarity, ratio and proportion, area, perimeter and volume are examined in the appropriate context of plane or solid geometry with attention given to inductive, deductive proofs and problem-solving. This course is not designated for transfer credit, nor will credit be given toward an associate degree. 14 (3 lecture hours) Prerequisite: MAT 092 with a minimum grade of C or appropriate placement scores
