BUS 101 Legal Environment of Business
This course introduces students to the legal environment of business – the U.S. legal system and its common forms of business organizations. Students learn the legal duties and ethical considerations a business owes its stakeholders. Students
engage with foundational questions from the common law, explore constitutional and legislative power over business and its limits, and illustrate how businesses navigate the regulatory state and its protections of investors, consumers, markets, employees, and the environment. Students observe the variety of ways that businesses resolve disputes and gain practical experience through discussions, readings, activities, case studies, and courtroom visits.
