Early Childhood Education • Associate in Arts

Transfer Program

Colleague Code: AA.ECHED

Curriculum Code: AAD 100

Program Information:

This program is designed for students planning to complete a baccalaureate in programs such as Child Development, Family and Consumer Science and Child and Family Supports. It assists professionals in meeting industry standards in designing, delivering, and assessing early childhood curricula and environments.

  • Students who complete this degree are interested in pursuing careers working with young children, ages 0-8 years and their families. Social service agencies, community-based early childhood care and education facilities and family/community support specialists are options.
  • Students who are planning on teaching in a secondary school are required to have a specified ACT score or to take an alternative test (determined by the State of Illinois) prior to transferring to an upper-division institution. Students should contact their transfer institution for more specific information associated with possible tests required for advancement in that program and for more information associated with this.
