EGL 253 Creative Writing: Creative Nonfiction

Students learn the structure and elements of creative nonfiction and the writing process, produce fully developed works of the personal essay, memoir, and literary journalism and demonstrate an understanding of the critical terminology of creative writers. Basic elements, scene, character, dialog, and point of view are discussed. Students learn by reading well-written creative nonfiction pieces and participating in thoughtful discussion and written exercises. R, W1, 11 (3 lecture hours)
