EGL 104 Career Communications I

The first in a two-semester sequence, this course-is designed to provide occupational students with-the opportunity for practical application of oral-and written skills necessary for effective-on-the-job communications. Fundamentals of-composition and a brief review of grammar are-included. Business letters, memoranda, phone-techniques, instruction, process and technical-modes are emphasized. Resumes, letters of-application and job interview techniques provide-preparation for job seeking. This course is not-intended to fulfill the communications-requirement for transfer to a senior institution.-12 (3 lecture hours)-Prerequisite: EGL 099 and RDG 099 or appropriate-placement scores-Note: Most on-campus EGL 104 sections are offered-in a computer lab classroom with course content-including instruction in a computer word-processing program. Students are expected to word-process the course assignments.
