Program Information:

The first semester of this program begins in August and this program of study must be taken in its entirety to meet certificate requirements.

• Students must have current certification as credentialed general or cardiac sonographers (e.g. ARDMS: RDMS, ARDMS: RDCS, CCI: RCS, ARRT: RT-S).  National certification as a vascular sonographer requires graduates to qualify for and pass a vascular ultrasound certification examination administered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Students must submit an Employer/Clinical Site Participation Letter signed by a hospital or clinic administrator.  The letter must state that the employer/clinical site is willing to provide the student with sufficient on-site vascular scanning experience for the duration of the DMS Vascular Program and verification of clinical skills required for ARDMS exam qualification.
• Students are involved in approximately 400 contact hours of clinical experience during the 10-month program. 
• Students must have a current physical, show proof of immunizations and pass a drug screen and fingerprint background check prior to the start of the program.
• Students must show proof of BLS certification for health care providers from the American Heart Association.
• Career cluster includes registered diagnostic medical sonographers in hospitals, clinics or imaging centers.
• Vascular Sonography students must earn a minimum grade of “C” or higher in all courses with a prefix of DMS.
• This program is conducted on a limited-enrollment basis.  Admission to this program involves additional procedures.
