Placement in Developmental Programs and Courses

Following placement determination through the use of one of many measures, including the use of GPA, standardized test scores, or placement testing scores, some students may be placed in programs or courses designed to help improve the student's chances of successfully completing coursework in a particular subject area. These include college-preparatory coursework and academic support services. These courses and support services are intended for new and continuing students. Information about developmental programs may be obtained from a Student Success Advisor. See the Center for Academic Success for information about the Study Skills Center, the Writing Center and the Math Center, and important academic-support services for students.

LLCC has adopted a co-requisite model for developmental education which reduces the time a student who may benefit from extra practice will have to spend in developmental programs or courses before having a chance to successfully complete the first college-level course in composition or math.
