This course is a survey of African-American history from 1619 to the present. Topics include African backgrounds, the Atlantic slave trade, southern plantation slavery, blacks during the Civil War and Reconstruction, African-American migrations, the Civil Rights Movement and contemporary African-American politics and culture.
