EGL 151 Creative Writing: Poetry

To develop original works of poetry, students are introduced to traditional and contemporary verse forms from a wide selection of poets and poems. Students learn to implement a variety of poetic devices such as rhyme, rhythm, sound, figurative language and line breaks that are reflected in these forms. As a poetry writing workshop, students also regularly participate in critical discussion of both professionally published poems and those produced by peers. R, W2, 11 (3 lecture hours)
