BUS 125 Small Business Ownership

This course allows students to explore the opportunities, rewards, challenges, and risks small business owners may experience establishing or taking over and then owning and operating an ethically-run business. The business planning topics that are covered relate to customer service, ethics, finances, franchising, human resources, legal considerations, location/facilities, management, marketing, operations, type of organization, strategic planning, and supply chain. Students complete assignments, case studies, discussions, group activities, quizzes and exams, and simulations. Throughout the semester, students complete sections of their individual business plan for a real or fictitious company that corresponds to chapters recently studied and receive graded feedback prior to submitting their final business plan at the end of the semester. 12 (3 lecture hours)
