Program Information:
This degree provides a basic historical, conceptual, and technical education in art. Believing that the artist’s success is dependent on both creative vision and technical expertise, the program encourages excellence, critical inquiry, and experimentation. These skills will prepare students to either transfer to a four-year university or seek employment in an art related field.
- For students who wish to receive humanities credit, but do not wish to pursue a major in the field of art.
- Prepares students majoring in art for advanced programs at the university level.
- For elementary and secondary education majors to satisfy state teacher-certification requirements.
- Students planning to transfer are recommended to verify senior-institution requirements, which vary.
- Students who are planning on teaching in a secondary school are required to have a specified ACT score or to take an alternative test (determined by the State of Illinois) prior to transferring to an upper-division institution. Students should contact their transfer institution for more specific information associated with possible tests required for advancement in that program and for more information associated with this.
