HUM 110 Introduction to Women and Gender Studies
This interdisciplinary humanities course is designed to provide an introduction to women’s and gender studies. The subject matter explores a variety of issues such as women’s history, systems of privilege and inequality, gender, sexuality, women’s bodies, women’s health, family systems, women’s work, violence against women, issues in government and the military, religion, and feminist activism, in light of women’s own experiences and realities, both historical and current. Topics are studied using historical and academic writings, with supplemental artifacts such as poetry, music, and film. 11 (3 lecture hours)
