Transfer Program

Colleague Code: AA.AGRI

Curriculum Code: AAD 100

Program Information:

Agriculture is the largest industry in the United States, with one out of five jobs being related to it. Agriculture graduates can join the industry and find a career in many different areas. Agronomists, animal scientists, engineers and financial specialists work in supplying products and services to help farmers produce the food, fiber, and now fuel that our country depends on. Others will process and market raw commodities into the final products that consumers need. Horticulturalists create landscapes, while conservation majors work to protect our natural resources. This degree will prepare students for transfer to a four-year university.

  • Appropriate for students interested in further study of agriculture at a four-year institution.
  • Careers in the broad field of agriculture in such areas as agronomy, animal science, agricultural communications, agricultural engineering, conservation, farm management, horticulture, teaching, veterinary medicine, etc.
  • See agriculture advisor for appropriate Ag elective, humanities selection and social science selection based on major field and Ag transfer university.
  • Students who are planning on teaching in a secondary school are required to have a specified ACT score or to take an alternative test (determined by the State of Illinois) prior to transferring to an upper-division institution. Students should contact their transfer institution for more specific information associated with possible tests required for advancement in that program and for more information associated with this.
