Program Information:
This program prepares students for meaningful careers in the field of education. Students in this program are guided in becoming competent secondary school teachers who can effectively use their knowledge, skills, and dispositions to successfully implement instruction in an ever-changing world.
- Designed for students planning to complete a baccalaureate program in Secondary Education.
- Students who intend to teach high school should be aware that secondary education usually requires a major in a subject matter discipline (for example: English, Music, History, etc.)
- Students planning to transfer are recommended to verify senior institution requirements, which may vary.
- Students who are planning on teaching in a secondary school are required to have a specified ACT score or to take an alternative test (determined by the State of Illinois) prior to transferring to an upper-division institution. Students should contact their transfer institution for more specific information associated with possible tests required for advancement in that program and for more information associated with this.
- EDU 201 includes 30 hours (1 credit hour) of pre-clinical observation.
