BIO 220 Microbiology
This course is an introduction to microorganisms: bacteria, fungi, protists, algae and viruses. Emphasis is placed on the role of microbes in health and disease. Topics covered include cell structure, culture techniques, genetics, immunology and genetic engineering. R, 11 (3 lecture hours and 2 laboratory hours) Prerequisite: BIO 175 with a minimum grade of C or BIO 101 with a minimum grade of C or BIO 107 with a minimum grade of C or BIO 111 with a minimum grade of C Note: Completion of or simultaneous enrollment in general chemistry is recommended.
