EGL 120 Introduction to Children's Literature

This course introduces students to several genres and formats of children’s books, as well as context on authors, illustrators, history, and relevant issues in the field. The course covers folklore, current and classic works for readers birth to 14, book awards, and artistic and literary components.  Students will analyze fiction applying scholarly theory to produce academic literary analysis. R, W2, 11 (3 lecture hours) IAI: H3 918
